Multi-genralist, and insanely talented, SoCal native Randall Jones epitomises the term veteran having shared the stage with everyone from The Beastie Boys to John Digweed. Signed to a who’s who seminal labels such as Hooj Choons, Renaissance and End Recordings, his signature cyberfunk style has entertained dance floors all over the globe.
Opening the EP, ‘Custom Cabriolet’ drives into earshot with insistent fury. Percussive and deep, warm stabs keep time as funky mellow bass wraps around the low end with aplomb. ‘Yuma’ begins in ernest naivety. Funky bass keys and nuanced sweeps keep things fresh before the meat of the track reveals itself. 8-bit warmth exudes all around. Finally, ‘Eastside’ goes deeper and more leftfield, reminiscent of Randall’s Tigerhook vibes. Warm and hypnotic, the track takes no time in becoming an analogue earworm for the early floors.
