A Truesoul mainstay delivers another strong EP.

Oscar L’s star continues to rise for Adam Beyer’s labels; after a trio of Truesoul EP’s between 2017-2019, he stepped up to make his debut on Drumcode in 2020. With a new year comes a fresh Truesoul offering, comprised of a triumvirate of cuts fit for different musical moods.

The Spanish artist expands his repertoire with ‘Under My Skin’, the title track is a perky groover driven by deep bass stabs and a cheeky vocal that will be familiar to many. Keep ‘X’ in your back pocket; it’s a weapon that builds like a sky scraper and is made for peak-time moments, when the opportunity arises. ‘Sharing With You’ was debuted at BPM Costa Rica in January 2020 and is a chugging, vocal-led gem with plenty of low-slung energy.

Italian stallion The Southern makes a comeback on ODD with a jackin’ start to 2021. Absolutely Essential.

February the 12th meets Greece-based artist and producer – Celene to join Set About Family with his two-track EP – No Gravity!
“No Gravity” track was inspired by many movies, this track is about a stressful astronaut mission in space. The dramatic pads and radio vocals transmitting the agony that fills the whole atmosphere.
“Guardian” is about a dramatic meeting with a being that Guards an ethereal place, where unimaginable things happen. Usually it does not allow anyone to enter but this time it wants you to follow it.

A rising German talent steps up for his Drumcode EP debut.

We got the first taste of Thomas Hoffknecht’s gritty Detroit-inspired sound in 2020, with ‘Code-1’ and ‘Escaping’, both impressive contributions to the recent A-Sides compilations. In a year with few highlights, the producer’s induction into the Drumcode fold marked a distinct positive.

Inspired by visits to the Planetarium in his hometown of Hamburg, Hoffknecht’s ‘Antaris’ EP is an immersive five-track work that charts the breadth of his raw, yet captivating style. The title track is driven by a catchy organ-driven riff and marching percussion and is awash with atmospheric intensity. ‘Comet’ is propelled by energetic stabs and shuffling beats. ‘Regulus’ is cosmic techno at its finest, as swirls of intergalactic melody radiate a halcyon spirit. ‘Sirius’ makes its mark with a shimmering synth-line and spoken word vocal, which adds to the track’s dream-like texture. ‘Wega’ is a low-end rattler that comes up for air thanks to a piercing vox sample that smacks of ’90s rave flavour.
