SPOTIFY – NEW MUSIC CHARTS

Spotify is launching 4 new charts from 5th October 2020. These will be Weekly Top 50 Album & Songs charts, both global and US, and will be published each Monday on Spotify’s Instagram and Twitter.

Spotify will also highlight the most streamed new releases from the weekend each Monday, which will only be shared on Twitter.

Details on methodology:

Weekly Top 50 Albums & Songs

  • Eligibility: all products are eligible for weekly song and album charts, regardless of release date
  • Territories: Global and US
  • Publishes: each Monday at 9:00am ET, social media only
  • Twitter: on @spotifycharts
  • Instagram: @spotify [global charts only, feed and Instagram Stories]

Top 10 Debuts: Albums & Songs

  • Data aggregation: calculates streams between Friday 12:00am to Sun 11:59pm UTC [72 hrs]

Key information for both charts:

Streams from all contexts will be counted: That includes those from the album view, playlist streams (editorial, algo-editorial and algorithmic), streams from user libraries and playlists, as well as those from radio and autoplay.

Albums are defined as:

  • Those with ‘album’ in the metadata in product type.
  • Must be longer than 30 minutes in duration or include more than 6 tracks.

These will be available on social only, per the above. These will not be viewable on spotifycharts.com.
