“As part of our ongoing commitment to increase audience engagement, on June 8th we’re launching a new home placement experience which will include:
• Dynamic order of sections based on total listener engagement
While previously the order of sections on home was decided by our editorial staff we have handed that control over to our users. From now on we let our listeners ‘vote’ sections to the top of home with their interactions. The most interacted section will rank at the top of home, just under our recently launched ‘artist shortcuts’. Voting is continuous and the order changes once every 24h.
• Personalized layout based on each user’s preferences
We observed that our listeners vary significantly in their preferences. One’s favourite section is not very relevant for others. That’s why we learn a listener’s preferred sections quickly and adjust the ranking accordingly. As a results different users will experience a variation in their personalized layout of home. Also here we acknowledge that preferences are temporary and we keep adjusting based on individual engagement.
• Everybody wins
We will continue to get better at understanding and adapting section engagement and user preferences. Our target is to increase engagement for all sections by finding the best layout for each listeners at any point of time
Please note no changes to content itself are made. The placement of playlists inside the curated sections (eg ‘fresh pressed’ inside ‘new music now’ are still controlled by our editorial team).”
